The Ministry of Education and Research has launched the "Capital of Sport" program that is meant to promote an active and healthy lifestyle through sports activities organized at the local level. The budget allocated for implementing the program is up to 1 million lei, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Education, the locality that will bear the title of "Capital of Sport" for one year will have the opportunity to become a national model in the field of sports by organizing activities and making investments in infrastructure.
"Through this program, we want to bring sport closer to people, to communities, and to offer a competitive and motivational framework for localities," said the secretary of state of the Ministry of Education Sergiu Gurin.
Within the program, activities such as Sport Fest and Sports Forum, working out of the local sports action plan, training courses in the field of sports and a national sports competition will be financed in the locality designated "Capital of Sport".
The local public authorities of the first level, except for the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti, are eligible to take part in the competition. The deadline for submissions is May 15, 2025.
