Sanitary restrictions have been imposed in the Capriana Forest Range for a period of 60 days to prevent an outbreak of rabies. The measure came after the rangers found 9 roe deers killed by the virus, the forestry agency Moldsilva reported.
According to a press release from the agency, the sanitary restrictions are effective from February 12. A program has been approved to eliminate the viral disease from the area and prevent an outbreak. The district's food safety agency has informed all the relevant structures about the incident.
In a parallel move to prevent rabies outbreaks, during January 8 through March 2 the entities subordinated to the agency Moldsilva have been conducting management measures to control fox populations.
