Carriers demand investigating ‘raider’ attacks in municipal transport

The Union of Carriers and Road Workers is concerned about the developments in the municipal public transport sector and calls on the Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the situation. The Union’s head Vladimir Florea issued an informative note to the media, saying at least four ‘raider’ attacks were staged on municipal carriers in 2013 – 2014, IPN reports.

The note says the recent decision to annul minibus route No. 115 following the strike staged by drivers was taken by the Transport Division of the Chisinau City Hall illegally.

The Union draws attention to the fact that the Urban Bus Company was also subject to ‘raider’ attacks for several times. Minibus route No. 152 “Cricova town – Bulgara St” , whose itinerary coincides with the itinerary of the bus route No. 2, was set up by order of the Chisinau City Hall in 2013. Afterward, there was instituted route No. 148 “Ciorescu commune – Bulgara St”, which affected bus route No. 47. Bus route No. 23, which daily transported by 25,000 – 30,000 passengers, was taken over by a private carrier.

According to the informative note, the latest actions of the municipal authorities are abusive and dangerous.
