Case against Basarabeasca district local officials sent to court
The criminal case against the Basarabeasca district head, his deputy and two other local officials that were charged with passive corruption was sent to court for examination, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a press release of the Center for Fighting Economic Crimes and Corruption, the Center’s agents completed the investigation and the prosecutors laid the charges against the suspects and sent the file to court.
The four local officials from the Basarabeasca District Council requested and received 20,000 lei from an entrepreneur for signing the final reception papers for a building. The suspects were arrested in an office while sharing the 10,000 lei branded “CCCEC bribe”.
They are charged with passive corruption, which is punishable by 5 to 10 years in jail, a fine of 20,000 to 60,000 lei and ban from certain positions and activities for 2 to 5 years.
