The violation of rules during electric welding works is the most probable cause of the fire that broke out on April 5 inside the Theoretical Lyceum “Liviu Deleanu” in Chisinau. Such a conclusion was reached by employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations following examinations carried out on the spot, IPN reports.

As a result of the static and dynamic examination of the fire scene, the Inspectorate’s employees established that repair works were carried out on the ventilation system in the basement of the institution and workers performed welding works. The Inspectorate’s specialists thoroughly analyzed all the details and came to the conclusion that the violation of fire safety rules when performing electric welding works is the most likely cause of fire, runs a press release.

The fire broke out in the basement of the educational institution on April 5. About 1,900 people were evacuated. No one was hurt. After the fire, the students have studied online. During the last two days, the sanitary facilities, corridors, classrooms, sports halls and festivity halls in the institution were disinfected. The walls and corridors of block B were painted. The power system in the building that houses the primary classes, including the first and second floors of block B, was restored. The cost of works for fully repairing the institution will be determined by Wednesday.
