Central Market inspector caught taking €8,000 bribe
An inspector of the Chisinau Central Market was arrested by anticorruption officers on bribery-related charges, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a communiqué, the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime says the inspector asked for €8,000 from a Calarasi resident, saying he has influence on the Central Market director and can help him get a kiosk to sell at the market.
The man was caught after he took the €8,000 marked ‘bribe’. The money was found in his pocket. He gave it up to the anticorruption officers voluntarily.
The suspect faces three to seven years in jail and a fine of 10 000 to 30 000 lei for traffic of influence.
The Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime said the prosecutors ordered investigating the Central Market inspector outside prison.
