The most vulnerable members of the Chisinau branch of the Blind People's Society today received food packages from the charity organization “Solution” ahead of the International Day for the Blind which is marked on November 13, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The aid was handed by the charity's member MP Zinaida Greceanyi together with a group of volunteers. Zinaida Greceanyi stated that these persons should be helped every day, not just on special occasions.
“We should do something for them every day, because they also wish to work and the government must understand this. These people are citizens like we are, are part of the society and, to the extent possible, I work to make this society better and kinder”, said Zinaida Greceanyi. She went on to add that she was always receptive to all the requests in her address and that she would further engage in charity as often as she could.
Dumitru Sclifos, the chairman of the Blind People's Society encouraged other actors to follow suit. “The visually impaired persons belong to this nation, to this republic and those in the government should turn their ears to the problems faced by these persons”.
Ecaterina Popa, a member of the Society, said she was pleased that someone remembered them as the aid helped to make their lives easier. Another member, Tatiana Dascal, stressed that blind persons lead very difficult lives and that any help was most welcome.
