Chief of police officers involved in armed bus search discharged
The chief of the policemen who performed a search of a bus with Moldovans returning from Italy with guns was dismissed, while three of his inferiors received severe reprimands. The decision was taken by Minister of the Interior Alexei Roibu as a result of an internal inquiry, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The incident happened on April 3. The bus stopped at the border crossing point “Leuseni-Albita” and was searched by armed persons without providing explanations.
According to a communiqué from the Ministry of the Interior, the internal inquiry revealed that the violations were committed because the head of the Police Department’s Organized Crime Combating Division did not coordinate the actions with his superiors. It was also established that there was no control over the inferiors during that operation.
The Ministry’s administration obliged the operative services to regularly inform the public, at least ounce a week, about the steps taken to discover different serious cases.
