A tragedy happened in Mihailenii-Vechi village of Rascani district. Two children who remained without supervision woke up amid flames. The elder boy younger than three died, while his brother under two suffered severe burns. Liliana Puscasu, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that the fire broke out on January 9. During the day, the house had been heated with wood. Towards evening, after the children fell asleep, the parents went to visit their relatives. When they returned in an hour and a half, they found their children burning. The eldest son was already dead. The same day, two men of 70 and 80 died in fires caused by smoldering cigarettes in different settlements. The 67 fires that happened in the country this month resulted in 14 deaths.
