The children who receive treatment at the Oncology Institute in Chisinau were given toys collected within the campaign “A toy brings joy”. Students and other representatives of the State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics “Nicolae Testemitanu”, who staged the event, shared out cars, dolls and other toys to the little patients, IPN reports.
The head of the university’s Communication and Public Relations Division Silvia Ciubrei said the idea of staging this campaign was put forward by students of the Faculty of Medicine No 2. (for international students). They distributed the toys on April 7 because it is the World Health Day today. The over 400 toys were collected with the support of students, residents and employees of the university and other people who heard about the campaign.
“By these toys, we want to wish the patients health, joy, patience, love for life, optimism and confidence in doctors and the modern medicine,” said Silvia Ciubrei, voicing hope that such a gesture will bring joy and smiles to the kids.
The head of the Oncological Pediatric Section Natalia Lisitsa said such events are welcome, especially for these patients, who sometimes receive treatment during a year or two, even during the Easter holidays, when they should be with the parents and family. “Any gift brought here is welcome and very pleasant,” she stated.
The campaign “A toy brings joy” is staged within a broader campaign entitled “Give presents for life” that is staged annually by the university’s Communication and Public Relations Division.
