The document provides for the protection of human rights, development of projects in social protection, good governance and administration, and also strengthening of the educational system, health and early development, with an emphasis on refugee children from Ukraine.

According to a press release from the municipality, the parties intend to identify ways of bilateral cooperation to increase the implementation of humanitarian, social and human rights protection programs, exchange information to strengthen the joint implementation of projects.

Mayor Ion Ceban noted that the experience of the partners from the Charity Center for Refugees was of real help to the local authorities of Chisinau, during the refugee crisis of 2022, in the context of providing support to those who fled the war in Ukraine.

“Together we managed to integrate into the Moldovan society a number of refugees who had and continue to need medical, legal and social assistance, support for employment or placement of children in the educational system. The City Hall is always open for collaboration”, said the mayor.

At the same time, based on a pilot project, refugee students from Ukraine attending four schools in Chisinau and one school in Comrat will enjoy free Romanian language courses.

The Charity Center for Refugees is a non-governmental organization created in Moldova by Ahmad Djavid Paknehad, an Afghan refugee, with the support of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

The CCR has been a partner of UNHCR and the Moldovan Inspectorate for Migration for over 24 years.
