A number of Chisinau buildings with the status of architectural monuments will be reconstructed during the next several years, Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca announced in the May 28 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Theoretical High School “Gheorghe Asachi” and the Memorial House “Alexandru Plamadeala”, who built the monument to Stephan the Great in Chisinau, top the list of architectural monuments that will be reconstructed. The renovation of “Gheorghe Asachi” High School is to be completed before the 150th anniversary of its foundation, in 2014. The historical center of Chisinau contains 977 architectural buildings of national and local importance that were included in the register of monuments protected by the state.
