The Chisinau water supplier imposed fines of 256,000 lei for unauthorized connection to the water supply and sewerage system, intentional damaging of networks and nonpayment of water bills for six consecutive months, IPN reports.

According to SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau”, the debts for water in 2013 rose to 890,000 lei. Debts of almost 300,000 of them lei have been settled.

The public utility warns that those who will be caught stealing or trying to steal water face heavy fines and even legal proceedings for theft.
