The company “Apa-Canal Chisinau” is ready to invest money in the conservation of the sewers of the first water supply system of Chisinau that were discovered in downtown during digging works, IPN reports.
In a communiqué, the water supplier says a report on the importance of the old sewers will be presented soon. One of the discovered sewers is practically intact, but needs to be immediately renovated and then may become an important piece of the projected Water Museum. The new museum complex can include historical documents about the foundation of the first centralized water supply system and different old installations from that period.
Several weeks ago, workers of “Apa-Canal Chisinau” found sewers dating from the interwar period during works to rehabilitate water pipes on Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Blvd. Employs of the water supplier and of the Green Areas Association will soon clean the discovered underground areas.
The first centralized water supply system of Chisinau was put into operation on December 12, 1892.
