Three persons from Chisinau municipality were arrested on suspicion that they planned the killing of a businessman from Chisinau. The suspects include the victim’s former wife, her partner and an intermediary who was to look for a killer, IPN reports.

Deputy Minister of the Interior Ion Turcan told a news conference that the victim aged 46 divorced his wife about a year ago, after a marriage that lasted for almost six years. After the divorce, the property of the two was to be divided. The wife didn’t agree with the size of her share as she wanted a house to the value of several hundred euros to be left to her. The woman aged 35 and her partner of 37 decided to look for a killer, who would murder her ex-husband, through the agency of an acquaintance.

Deputy head of the General Police Inspectorate Gheorghe Cavcaliuc said the killer’s role was played by an officer under cover. The ex-wife and her partner asked that the man should be killed and then burned or built into the basement of a building. They were ready to pay €15,000 for the murder. The suspects transmitted the first tranche of €2,600. The rest of the money was to be given to the killer after this presented photographic evidence. A psychologist worked with the victim during the investigation as he suffered a psychological trauma.

The suspects face up to 20 years in jail or life.
