The Orthodox Church of Moldova does not intend to dictate the economic and political course of the state, but reserves the right to watch over the spiritual integrity of the people, it is said in a statement adopted by the Synod in a meeting on September 3, IPN reports.
In the message published on the electronic website of the Moldovan Metropolitan Church, it is said that the West overlooks the orders of God, propagate the idea according to which life must be lived by people’s wishes not by God’s law. The European Union faces serious morality problems, besides the propagation of euthanasia and other social scourges.
The Synod of the Orthodox Church is dissatisfied with the fact that the Moldovan Government haven’t yet heard the demands of the clergy and the Orthodox Church not to legalize sexual amorality by adopting the Law on the Equality of Chances. “By gay parades and other demonstrations of the sexual minorities, they hit the backbone of the holiest values of the Moldovan people. That’s why the members of the Synod of the Orthodox Church condemns again the scourge that can affect the spiritual integrity of the whole people and repeatedly calls on the authorities to hear the people’s dissatisfaction,” says the statement made public by the Metropolitan Church.
The members of the Synod voiced hope that the authorities will hear the demands of the people who gave them power to govern and will annul the mentioned law. The Church didn’t promote and will not promote an aggressive behavior against the representatives of the sexual minorities. The meeting of the Synod of the Orthodox Church will continue at the Capriana Monastery on September 4.
