The State Weather Service has upgraded a nationwide snowfall advisory issued earlier to code orange, predicting even more snow and melted snow today, IPN reports.
In addition to the snow, north-eastern wind will blow in gusts of up to 17-22 m/s, creating blizzard conditions. Icy roads are also predicted.
The National Patrolling Inspectorate, Moldova's traffic police authority, has also warned motorists to expect hazardous driving conditions, advising them against long journeys.
To avoid being caught off guard, motorists are reminded to carry a bag of sand, a shovel, a warm blanket and a vacuum flask with hot drinks. Drivers are also reminded to always keep a safe distance between vehicles, to drive with the low beam turned on during the daytime as well, and periodically check the battery.
