The president of the national broadcasting company TeleRadio Moldova (TRM) says he will resign if any valid evidence of censorship is found at TRM, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Constantin Marin stated at a press conference on Thursday that the TRM management was accused of censorship after dissensions appeared over the salary program provided by TRM’s reorganization plan. Following a meeting earlier this week of 60 representatives of the Moldova 1 channel, a faction of 25 members signed a resolution denouncing a “managerial and deontological crisis”, “censorship” and “violations of the journalists' rights” at TRM and warning about the imminence of a strike action.
“While all the discussions addressed salary issues at the meeting, in the end we came to see this resolution which accuses us of censorship, professional and deontological discrimination. There is a striking contrast between what was discussed at that meeting and the content of this resolution. On a closer examination of this resolution, one will notice a yawning gap between its findings and its decisions”, said Marin.
Marin noted that while the resolution is claimed to be signed by 200 TRM employees, no list of signatures was appended.
Constantin Marin thinks that the resolution is a camouflaged attack on the national broadcaster that has political and media forces behind.
