Council for Determining Disability and Work Capacity to be restructured

The system for determining the disability and work capacity will be reformed. The new concept envisions the creation of a transparent and impartial examination mechanism by randomly distributing cases between disability determining teams, preventing simultaneously cases of corruption in the system. The subject was discussed in a working meeting that was chaired by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, IPN reports, quoting the executive’s press service.

The National Council for Determining Disability and Work Capacity will consist of four regional councils that will include by three-five disability determining teams and of two senior councils whose role will be to examine challenges and ensure control.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip underlined the importance of ensuring a transparent and impartial mechanism for examining cases of disability determination, noting this aspect is also defined in the Government’s Plan of Action for 2016-2018. “The goal of this reform is to strengthen the institutions and optimize processes. In fact, this goal applies to all the reforms stipulated in the Government’s agenda,” stated the Premier.

In the meeting, representatives of the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family proposed examining the plan of action for implementing the concept. This envisions the elaboration and approval of the instruments and criteria for determining disability by applying the bio-psycho-social model in assessing persons. There will be created a website for scheduling appointments online and will be implemented an information system for electronically monitoring persons with disability degree.
