Cybersecurity Forum. International cooperation for digital security

The Moldova Cybersecurity Forum 2025 started in Tuesday in Chisinau, bringing together cybersecurity experts, government representatives and international partners for intense discussions on the digital future of the Republic of Moldova for two days. According to the organizers, the forum marks an important stage in strengthening cyber resilience and opens new prospects for regional and international cooperation, IPN reports.

The event is organized with the support of the Moldova Cybersecurity Rapid Assistance 2.0 project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the E-Governance Academy, together with the EU Partnership Mission in the Republic of Moldova.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean and other officials attending the event stressed the importance of strategic cooperation in the context of digital transformations and increasingly sophisticated threats.

The forum offers a complex framework for debates and technical sessions, covering topics such as the protection of critical infrastructures, responding to global cyber threats and European best practices in the field. On the first day, the participants took part in a panel discussion on national security and challenges in cyberspace, emerging risks and strategic solutions applied in the region.

The forum also discussed the experience of other states in the face of cyber-attacks. Estonia, known for its advanced digitalization, was one of the first targets in the context of regional escalation. The former director of CERT-EE Tõnu Tammer told how the Estonian state defended its infrastructure in the face of coordinated attacks.

A lesson also comes from Latvia, where a national DNS firewall, capable of blocking access to hundreds of thousands of dangerous connections, was instituted. Details about this initiative were presented by CERT.LV expert Bernhards Blumbergs, who explained how centralized protection and coherent policies can bring significant results in a short time.

At the forum, Moldovan officials reaffirmed their commitment to aligning with European cybersecurity standards. Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Doina Nistor spoke about the Government's efforts to strengthen the legislative and institutional framework in the digital field.

Cybersecurity Agency director Mihai Lupașcu presented the institution's achievements in the first year of activity and the challenges in implementing the European NIS2 directive.

The event continues on April 11 with practical sessions on such issues as the prevention of cyber-attacks and protection of SMEs. The participants will take part in interactive workshops and will have the opportunity to explore digital solutions presented by 18 companies and organizations operating in the field of information technologies.
