The cycle paths in Chisinau measure over 20 kilometers. They have been installed in the last 5 years on the most important streets of the capital.
In a reply to IPN, the Directorate of Urban Mobility said that four of the largest lanes are two-way. They are located on Stefan cel Mare Boulevard (7.4 km), 31 August Street (6 km), Mircea cel Batran Boulevard (4.3 km) and Dacia Boulevard (2 km).
Out of the 26 kilometers for alternative transport, 9 kilometers have been laid out during 2024.
In addition, cyclists can use dedicated public transport lanes. Thus, 20 city streets with a total distance of 48 km are available for alternative transport.
Other cycle lanes have also been created on street segments, in parks and squares.
"The development of infrastructure for alternative transportation remains a priority for the municipality, which wants to ensure better travel conditions and a cleaner environment," notes the Urban Mobility Directorate.
The authorities are planning to create a two-way bicycle lane on Albisoara Street, a 4.6km stretch.
In addition, a project is being coordinated to create a dedicated public transport lane on Hancesti Street, where cyclists will also be able to cycle.
