The hail and high winds that damaged house roofs and roads in Cotul Morii, Leuseni, Ivanovca villages of Hancesti district destroyed electric power and telephone lines. The residents of Sangerei, Drochia and Soroca districts were also affected by the storm. Relevant information was presented by the head of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Mihail Harabagiu in a meeting of the interim Cabinet, IPN reports.

Acting Prime Minister Natalia Gherman asked promptly involving rescuers and the local public authorities in offering assistance to the people and continuously providing information about the created situation, including as regards the sanitary-epidemiological safety.

The Government’s press service said Natalia Gherman instructed the Veterinary Service and the National Public Health Center to take all the necessary measures to prevent possible infectious diseases, including those caused by polluted water from wells. Financial resources are to be identified to alleviate the consequences of the natural calamities, first of all from the local budgets.

Another subject discussed was the challenges during dog days. Natalia Gherman asked making sure that the rehabilitation points continue to work and permanently checking the ponds, including for presence of warning signals.
