The Buiucani Court on July 11 extended the remand detention for the deputy mayor of Chisinau Vlad Cotet for 25 more days. The decision can be challenged in the Appeals Court within three days, IPN reports.

Vlad Cotet attended the hearing, but refused to make statements for the press. The prosecutor and the lawyer also refused to talk to journalists.

The deputy mayor is investigated within a criminal case started over passive corruption, influence peddling, falsification of public documents and abuse of power that involves a number of public servants and private individuals.
