Deutsche Welle experts hold training seminars in Chisinau

Specialists of Deutsche Welle and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung are conducting training courses for journalists in Chisinau. Deutsche Welle Director General Erik Betterman said the media landscape in Moldova is developing continuously. The aim of the seminars are to make the journalists better understand the role of the media in a democratic society, Info-Prim Neo reports. Matthias Barner, mass media program director with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, said that during the last few years Moldova has made progress as regards the pluralism of opinion. “We want to support this development. Democracy means informed people who are able to form opinions, with the mass media playing the role of the fourth power in the state,” Matthias Barner said. “The political pressure has decreased and the media support the democratic process in society. It is important to make sure that this process develops.” A participant in the courses, Victoria Stanila, commentator-editor at Radio Moldova, said the journalists were taught methods of conducting interviews and making political reports and familiarized with the techniques of Deutsche Welle. The training courses will last for two weeks. The Deutsche Welle Office in Chisinau opened one year ago ran similar courses for Moldovan journalists earlier.
