The head of the General Education Division of the Floresti District Council was found guilty of abuse of power and was put on probation for two years and six months and banned from holding public posts for a five-year period, IPN reports.

According to the Nord Service of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, the person illegally received salary as the manager of a district creation class. In 2011 – 2012, this person received 6,600 lei in salary for an activity that wasn’t actually performed, causing thus damage to the budget of the district council.

The prosecutors also established that the offender falsified the file for attesting the second teaching degree as a teacher of Romanian language and literature, based on which, by order of the Ministry of Education, this person was conferred the highest teaching degree.

The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
