Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, who is the first deputy chairman of the Liberal Party (PL), said that the municipality of Chisinau made a special contribution to keeping and strengthening Moldova’s European course in the November 30 legislative elections. In the December 1 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and subdivisions, the mayor said that until now they discussed about such categories of voters as the young people and the diaspora, but this time the difference was shown by the residents of Chisinau, IPN reports.
“We thank the residents of the municipality of Chisinau for taking part in the November 30 elections in such a large number. The voter turnout in Chisinau was the highest in Moldova – 62%, as against to 57% at national level. Almost 48% of the people of Chisinau municipality voted for the pro-European parties – the PL, PDM and PLDM, as opposed to only 37% gained by the parties that are for the Customs Union. The difference is of over 10%. The situation is very different from the local elections of 2011, when the ratio was 50:50,” stated the mayor.
Dorin Chirtoaca said the previous years the central authorities neglected the projects implemented in the municipality, but things should change after these elections.
With 75.25% of the records processed in Chisinau, the election runners that won most of the votes are: the PSRM with 24.75% of the ballot, the PLDM with 19.89%, and the PL with 18.66%. The three parties are followed by the PCRM with 12.71% of the poll and the PDM with 10.09%.
