A sanitation campaign was launched in Chisinau on March 1 and will last by Easter, deputy mayor Vlad Cotet announced at Monday's meeting of the municipal service and divisions, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Cotet, all the relevant services and district heads' offices as well as the economic entities will be involved in cleaning works. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said the municipal housing stock managers should more actively engage in cleaning works. He demanded that the employees of these companies go out and sweep the streets. The head of the Green Spaces Association Eliferie Haruta said 260 employees and 90 units of transport collected garbage from an area of 706 hectares last week. Veaceslav Tarna, the head of the Public Transport and Communications Division, said the institution's employees are cleaning the antiskid material from streets. According to him, about 15,000 cubic meters or 25 tonnes of antiskid material have been spread on roads this winter, three times more than last year. Easter falls on April 4 this year.
