Dorin Chirtoaca: Thermoenergy companies must ensure transparency in money management
The thermoenergy companies working in Chisinau must ensure transparency in the use of public money and not accumulate new debts to the Russian gas supplier Gazprom. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca set such tasks during a working visit to SA CET - 1, SA CET – 2 and SA Termocom.
Speaking about the work of the given companies during the 2009 – 2010 heating season, Chirtoaca said that they worked under a normal regime and coped with the difficulties when the temperatures dropped to minus 30 degrees Celsius and affected the old pipes that have not been renovated for 30 to 50 years.
The managers of the thermoelectric power plants (CETs) said the two companies supply heat in Chisinau in the required amount even if they do not work at full capacity. CET-2 director Alexandr Komarov said the company started work in 1975, but repair works have been performed gradually so that large investments will now be welcome. CET-1 has worked since 1951 and has never been reequipped. According to the managers, the plants can work at greater capacity and become more profitable if reequipped and modernized. At the same time, the cost price of the heat will be lower.
For his part, the administrator of the heat supplier SA Termocom Dionisie Antocel said the current heating season went smoothly. No major accidents happened on the main pipes during the last months.
“The companies should be modernized, their metering systems should be improved and the apartment buildings should be better insulated,” the mayor said. According to him, these problems will be solved step by step.
