The Ministry of Education of Moldova is intimidating the education institutions that allow young volunteers who take part in the Union Caravan to be accommodated at their dorms, the leader of the public association “Honor, Dignity and Homeland” (Unirea - ODIP) Vlad Biletski stated in a news conference at IPN.
According to the young man, the Ministry issued a letter warning the education institution managers who allow persons to be accommodated in dorms in breach of the current regulations that they will be punished disciplinarily. “In this connection, the actions of deputy minister of education Lilia Pogolsa can be described as persecution and intimidation,” stated Vlad Biletski.
The Ministry explained that it was informed about cases of lodging of persons at dorms in breach of the framework regulations concerning the functioning of dorms run by state education institutions. “Indirectly, the Ministry of Education is allowed to interfere in the activity of these education institutions with the only goal of preventing the Union Caravan from being carried out,” said the leader of Unirea – ODIP.
Vlad Biletski also said he is determined to submit a complaint to the police about persecution, intimidation and blackmailing against the managers of education institutions through this letter.
Within the Union Caravan, young Moldovan volunteers visit villages and towns to inform the population about the benefits of Moldova’s union with Romania and of the integration into the EU. This year the Union Caravan involves 25 young people.
