Education Ministry launches “See What Your Child is Doing” campaign
The Ministry of Education, in partnership with the World Bank, is conducting an awareness-raising campaign intended for parents. The campaign “See What Your Child is Doing” is carried out as part of the Quality Education Project, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Minister of Education Leonid Bujor expressed his hope that the campaign will make the parents who consider it is the kindergarten or school that must educate their children more responsible. In a news conference held to launch the campaign on March 3, the minister stressed the teachers' work produces no results if the parents do not take part in the education of their children.
The number of children without home who are brought up in residential institutions is on the rise. This shows the situation in the society is unfavorable, Leonid Bujor said. During the campaign, radio stations and TV channels will broadcast videos and programs about how and why the parents should correctly educate their children. Articles on the same topic will appear in the press.
World Bank representative Scherezad J.Monami Latif praised the Ministry of Education for its readiness and wish to contribute to the improvement of the relations between parents and children. The education of a high quality is the result of the work of the whole society, but the parents make the most important contribution, she said.
Experts and experienced parents will be invited to programs that will promote the campaign “See What Your Child is Doing”. They will try to identify methods for improving the child-parent relationship.
The Ministry of Education implements the US$five-million Quality Education Project with assistance from the World Bank. A project to support the preschool institutions in Moldova to the value of US$4.4 million will be launched in the United States in May.
