The Council of the Education Trade Unions “Viitorul“ asks the Government to reexamine the amendments to the law on the salary system in the budgetary sector that were introduced on December 3, 2009. The Council says that a number of amendments are detrimental to the employees working in education, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The trade unions propose changing the law on salaries so that the teachers are receive higher pays from September 1, 2010, according to the 0.9 coefficient, and from January 1, 2011, according to the 1.0 coefficient, Mihail Lascu, the head of “Viitorul“ Trade Union, said in a news conference on Monday.
Efim Ivas, the deputy head of “Viitorul” Trade Union in Balti, stressed the necessity of increasing the salaries of the auxiliary employees working in schools and kindergartens. “The technical and medical personnel, the librarians and other employees receive only 600-650 lei a month. If the raise we propose is accepted, they will have salaries of at least 800 lei,” he said.
Mihail Lascu also said that if the Government does not take trade unions' proposals into account, the local organizations will consider staging protests.
The representatives of “Victoria” also said that when the mentioned law was modified, the Trade Union was not invited to take part in the formulation of the bill. According to Mihail Lascu, this is a violation of the legislation.
In November 2009, the Government announced that teachers' salaries will be raised by 24% until 2012 and that 49.5 million lei will be allocated monthly from the state budget for the purpose.
