Employees of the brick factory “Anchir” based in Chirca, Anenii Noi protested in front of the Prosecutor General’s Office, demanding that they be paid the overdue salaries for two years, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The company’s administrator Vladimir Hadjiu said that two years ago the Prosecutor General’s Office started criminal cases against him by order of senior officials. As a result, the factory stopped work and about 200 persons from 12 villages remained with jobs.
“Strange things started to happen at the factory two years ago. There were fabricated different violations committed by the administration. According to my information, persons from other factories and MPs who have influence on the Prosecutor’s Office are involved,” said Vladimir Hadjiu.
He also said that the workers protested before as well, but their demands remained unsatisfied. Now the company must pay overdue salaries of about 2 million lei.
“We have debts and do not receive the salaries. We do not have where to work and what to eat. Nobody hears us,” said employee Nadeja Gudumac.
A driver of the factory, Maxim Taburca said he must receive salaries of about 20,000 lei. “We protest because we cannot work and because the Prosecutor General’s Office is irresponsible. More than 300 inspections were performed at the company over two years without reason,” he said.
In a news conference, the deputy prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office Viorel Morari said the protests are aimed at intimidating the prosecutors. He confirmed that a series of legal cases were started against the factory’s administration, including over abuse of power, non-payment of debts to the state budget and misappropriation. “The Prosecutor’s Office did not take steps to stop the company’s work. We only aim to hold those to blame accountable,” said Viorel Morari.
