Employees of national children’ hospital protest against dismissal of director

Employees of the national children’ hospital “Emilian Cotaga” Wednesday staged a protest against the dismissal of director Gheorghe Grosu. According to the protesters, the director cannot be blamed for not being present in the surgery room where the13-year-old boy died, Info-Prim Neo reports. The protesters asked reinstating the director in his post as he is a responsible person and a professional. They said they will protest until their demand is satisfied. Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi went to the protesters, saying the director was discharged for a number of reasons and will not be reinstated. “The former director showed incompetence and irresponsibility in his work and we cannot tolerate this,” he stated, adding that Gheorghe Grosu did not announce the death to the child’s parents on time, did not meet with them and did not inform representatives of the Health Ministry about this case. He also committed other irregularities. The minister named a person to hold the post of director on an interim basis, until a suitable candidate is found. The director of the national children’ hospital “Emilian Cotaga” was fired after a child died during an operation to have his tonsils out. It turned out that the child’s death was due to the anesthesiologist’s fault.
