EU ready to provide €7m to Moldova for regional development
The European Union is disposed to release €7 million to Moldova in 2012-2013 for pilot regional development programs, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction.
The possibility of providing financial support through the Twinning Project was discussed in a meeting of Minister Marcel Raducan and representatives of the European Commission and the EU Delegation to Moldova.
Charles White, the representative of the European Commission’s Regional Policy Directorate General, said the aim to the visit to Chisinau is to determine the areas to which the European community can provide support and to agree the main activities that will be carried out in Moldova.
By June 2011, the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction is to decide the regions where the pilot regional development programs will be implemented. Moldova will cover 15-50% of the cost of the programs.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Marcel Raducan said the launch of the dialogue on the pilot regional development programs represents an important step for Moldova towards achieving the European integration objectives.
