Eugene Ionesco Theater opens new season
The Eugene Ionesco Theater will open the 21st season on Saturday, October 29, with the play “Vigil” written by Morris Panych and directed by Veaceslav Sambris, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Vigil” is the story of a lonely young man who awaits the death of a silent and surly old woman, whom he believes his aunt and who spends time with stories and memories about death. It's a black comedy about life, death, love, memories and remorse.
Mihaela Buruiana, the theater's advertising and marketing specialist, has told Info Prim Neo that the big hall, the stage and actors' booths and other rooms needs extensive repair, this is why this season the theater won't present its full repertoire. Although the reconstruction wasn't finished yet, the theater didn't pause its activity. The 2011-2012 season will take place in a newly-arranged small and comfortable hall.
The other scheduled plays for this season are Eugene Ionesco's “The Lesson”, directed by Vitalie Drucec, Werner Schwab's “The bosses”, directed by Veaceslav Sambris, and “The Last Night in Madrid”, adapted and directed by Vitalie Drucec.
The tickets cost 60 lei. Students can get them at 40 lei, pupils, pensioners and disabled people at 30 lei. The discount is offered only if a valid document such as a pensioner or student card is presented.
