Ex-commissioner Vladimir Botnari continues to plead not guilty
Former commissioner of Chisinau Vladimir Botnari continues to plead not guilty in the case over the April 2009 events and says he committed no violation, prosecutor Sergiu Rosu has told Info-Prim Neo.
The ex-commissioner was questioned on November 30. He said that during the protests the police officers acted within possibilities and committed no irregularities.
The next hearing will take place on December 2, when other witnesses will be questioned. Afterward, in a new hearing, the prosecutor and the lawyer will present their pleadings and the court will pass judgment.
Former Minister of the Interior Gheorghe Papuc and ex-commissioner of Chisinau Vladimir Botnari are tried in a case started over misconduct in office during the protests of April 2009, which resulted in the death of Valeriu Boboc. They face a fine of 6,000 to 16,000 lei or two to six years’ imprisonment.
