Fifteen icons dating from the 17th – 19th centuries, which are highlights of the religious art of the National Museum of Arts of Moldova, will be on display in the exhibition halls of the Tuscany Regional Council, Italy, for two weeks, IPN has learned from the Ministry of Culture.
The opening of the exhibition “Icone della Bessarabia” in Florence city was attended by Minister of Culture Monica Babuc, who paid an official visit to Italy. The minister underlined the historical importance of Moldova as a frontier and defender of the Christian world. In this connection, Monica Babuc voiced hope that the project to restore the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Church in Causeni town will be implemented with the support of the Italian partners.
The religious art exhibition aims to strengthen the cultural partnership relations and exhibitions exchanges and to acquaint the Italian public with the Moldovan art.
