Inspectors of the Agency for Consumer Protection found entire batches of drugs with the period of validly expired, even five years ago, at the Hancesti district hospital during an unannounced inspection, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from the Agency, the process of keeping drugs and reactive substances in all the sections of the hospital, including the clinical diagnosis laboratory, is not metrologically ensured.
Medicines that expired in October 2008 and May 2012 were used to diagnose syphilis in the clinical diagnosis laboratory. Nine batches of expired drugs and one batch of medical thermometers without metrological examination documents were found in the hospital’s drugstore.
The inspectors issued instructions banning the use of the products with the expired validity period. Fines are yet to be imposed.
