Faculty of Pharmacology celebrates 50th anniversary

The Faculty of Pharmacology of the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemitanu” on October 31 celebrates the 50th anniversary of its foundation. The anniversary was marked by a solemn festivity that involved the founders, professors, the administration and students of the faculty, IPN reports.

Prorector Olga Cernetski said in the event that the Faculty of Pharmacology was opened flowing an increasing demand for pharmacists with higher education, who would meet the needs in the country. With the opening of the faculty, they laid the foundations for efficient activity in training qualified staff and in developing the national pharmaceutical service.

Interviewed by IPN, the faculty’s dean Nicolae Ciobanu said the Faculty of Pharmacology is one of the most popular, being the only one that prepares specialists in the field with higher education. The number of students admitted to this faculty is on the rise. There are now over 500 students studying here.

Nicolae Ciobanu admitted that tuition at this faculty is not small, but the university invests a lot to ensure education of a high quality. They use different reactive substances, medicines and auxiliary substances and there are different lab works that necessitate financial resources. 

According to the faculty’s administration, in the 50 years the faculty was graduated by about 4,000 students.
