The farmers will protest in front of the Government Building on November 23. Such a decision was taken in a joint meeting of the administrative councils of the National Farmers Federation of Moldova, the National Union “Uniagroprotect” and the National Federation of Agricultural Producers “Agroinform” on October 24, IPN reports.
Two weeks ago, representatives of the farmers adopted a resolution containing their demands and submitted it to the authorities. But nobody reacted, according to them. Thus, they decided to mount protests.
During a month, the farmers will take steps to communicate with the authorities so as to reach a consensus over the acute problems faced in the field. They do not exclude that the protest may be cancelled. If the authorities do not react after this term, the farmers will boycott the day when there is celebrated their professional day – November 30.
Among farmers’ demands are to define agriculture and rural development as priorities in the Development Strategy 2020, to restore the VAT of 8% and to increase the agriculture subsidization fund up to 640 million lei.
