A bus carrying 40 passengers from Chisinau to Ungheni overturned on Monday, August 14, around 5.30 AM, between the villages of Sipoteni and Bahmut in Calarasi district.
Alina Burghez, press officer of the National Patrol Inspectorate (INP), told IPN that the 59 year old driver entered a dangerous curve without minding the bad weather. Because a part of the road was undergoing repairs, he switched to the opposite side, but the bus skidded and overturned near the road.
The driver wasn’t harmed, but 15 passengers were taken to the Calarasi District Hospital. “Nobody suffered any fractures, nobody is in serious condition, all of them are safe. They have been examined by doctors and sent home. Nobody was hospitalized”, hospital director Silvia Bobescu told IPN.
The passengers that didn’t suffer any injuries were taken to the Calarasi bus station to continue their trip. The police is investigating the circumstances of the accident.
