A sum of over 18 million lei will be allocated from the national population support fund on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga told a news conference that 400,000 lei will be distributed in Chisinau to persons with speech and hearing impairments who hold the first and second disability degree and did not benefit from financial support during the year, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The minister said that a new framework law on the social inclusion of the persons with disabilities is being drafted. It envisions ensuring the right of the disabled to social protection, medical care, rehabilitation, education, public life, etc. It also describes the responsibilities of the central and local public authorities and the role of the NGOs in protecting the persons with disabilities. “These policy documents will provide an environment and commitments for guaranteeing the rights of these persons,” said the minister.
Valentina Buliga said the authorities of the first and second-levels will organize events to sensitize the public opinion on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, marked on December 3. In Edinet, Leova, Soroca and Orhei, there will be launched the Mobile Team service. In these districts, there will be held sport competitions, roundtable meetings, conferences and other events. The activities will end on December 3 with the festival “I want to be a star too” at the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunchevich”.
In Moldova, there are over 179,000 persons with disabilities, 15,000 of whom are children.
