Fines of 130,000 lei for retransmission of Russian TV programs in Gagauzia

Two Gagauz companies were penalized by the Audiovisual Council with fines of up to 130,000 lei "for unauthorized retransmission of programs of the Russian Federation". The Council noted that this is content prohibited by law.

In a press release, the institution explains that "ILK HALK TELEVISION" and "Oguzsatlink" based in the municipality of Comrat and the village of Chirsova "retransmitted audiovisual media services without legal authorization, including content prohibited by Article 17 of the Code of Audiovisual Media Services".

Video checks in Comrat showed that informational-analytical and military content of the Russian channels "РБК", "ТВ 3" and "Победа" had been retransmitted.

The TV company ILK HALK was fined twice, for the same violations, and has to pay a total of 130,000 lei.

In addition, the Audiovisual Council draws attention to the fact that "the avoidance of correspondence and the denial of access to the offices of the two media companies denote the intention to evade control".

The TV content was monitored by members of the Board of Directors during March 27-31.
