Fines of up to 5,000 lei for illegal passenger transportation

As a result of surprise inspections staged with the aim of combating illegal passenger transportation, 19 drivers were fined up to 5,000 lei. Patrolling inspectors and inspectors of the National Auto Transport Agency stopped a number of taxi and minibus drivers to check their documents and see if they worked legally, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, it was determined that many of the drivers didn’t possess certificates of professional competence and technical inspection certificates. The taxi and minibus drivers who didn’t have (yellow) license plates, in accordance with the national legislation, were also fined.

Deputy Minister of Transport Sergiu Bucataru said the operation, initiated in concert with the National Patrolling Inspectorate, is aimed at making the motorists more responsibly and at ensuring the high-quality of the services provided by carriers.
