A number of division heads of the state-owned company Moldova’s Railways were dismissed following the incident that happened in Sipoteni village of Călărași district on October 22. Then, a number of locals blocked the train running on the Ungheni – Chisinau route, expressing thus their dissatisfaction with the reduced number of places on this train, IPN reports.
In a press release, Moldova’s Railways says the Internal Security Service of the company conducted an inquiry into this case and the responsible employees were penalized. The company’s administration ordered to dismiss the head of the Chisinau Train Depot and the head of the Train Management Service.
To make sure the passengers travel in decent conditions, it was ordered to put two train sections on the Ungheni-Chisinau route on Mondays and Fridays, when the passenger flow is larger. The company assured those in charge will continue to monitor the flow and will increase the number of cars on the other weekdays if need be.
The Ungheni-Chisinau train travels daily. It sets off from Ungheni at 3:51am and arrives in Sipoteni at 5:15am, stopping in Chisinau at 6:59am. The ticket for a complete route costs 24 lei, while from Sipoteni to Chisinau – 14 lei.
