An Andrology Center intended for men suffering from disorders of the sexual organs was inaugurated in Chisinau. The patients will be examined by specialists in dermatovenerology, endocrinology, urology, andrology and psychology. The money for setting up the center was allocated from the local budget, IPN reports.

Head of the Chisinau Health Division Mihai Moldovanu said that so far the patients went to see andorlogists, urologists and dermatovenerologists in different medical institutions. There are few specialists in andrology. “About 50% of the men older than 40 suffer from andrological disorders and there are not many andrologists in the municipality of Chisinau. That’s why we decided to create this Andrology Center based on a municipal decision,” he stated.

The Center’s director Igor Cucu said the medical services are intended both for adult men and for children and teens. “The Center’s priority is to ensure the health of the children, teens and adult men, the sexual compatibility of couples and the reproductive health of adult men. We will also deal endocrinal aspects of men’s disorders and onco-andrology and will supervise tumors of the men’s sexual organs,” he said.

The Center is housed by Maternity Hospital No. 2 of Chisinau. Its capacity is 80 patients a day. Almost 1 million lei has been allocated so far for outfitting the Center. There will be purchased some modern medical devices needed to treat penis disorders. A part of the medical services will be provided for money, while others will be covered by the National Health Insurance Company.
