First building in First Home scheme to be built in two years

The beneficiaries of the municipal program First Home, which was launched a year ago, will be able to move into the building which is being erected on Gioceilor Street in two years, promised Ion Dermenji, the head of the contractor company, during a visit of Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca to the site, Info-Prim Neo reports. Dermenji specified that, under existing construction requirements, the term of inaugurating an apartment building is 30 months from the moment the groundwork is installed. He also said that his company hasn't yet received a leu for the work and everything has so far been done at the contractor's expense. “We have invested 6 million lei so far”, said Ion Dermenji. This is going to be the first of the four buildings on Ghioceilor Street under the First Home scheme, which has a total of 1,000 applicants. After touring the construction site, Mayor Chirtoaca said he was glad that the First Home Program continued to exist and was not scrapped, as some predicted. “We work to fulfill our commitments and the fact that today we have more than a half of the apartments reserved is an achievement, as much as is the amount of loans granted”. Homes on Ghioceilor Street are estimated to cost 300 to 400 euros a square meter in their pre-finished version and 400 to 500 euros in their turn-key version. Studios will be up to 40 square meters large, two-roomed apartments will have up to 60 square meters in area, and three-roomed apartments up to 80 square meters. Besides the Ghioceilor Street apartments, it is planned to build 400 other attic apartments, also known as mansards. Loans granted under the First Home Program come with a maturity period ranging from 10 to 30 years and at an interest rate of 9% annually.
