The first full-length documentary about singer Nicolae Sulac was shown at the Odeon Cultural Center in Chisinau on January 20. It presents the nicest moments with the great master and includes pictures about the Moldovan nation, the film’s director Valeriu Ciurea told the journalists, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The director said the idea of making such a film came to his mind in September 1986, when he listened to a ballade on the radio. “It was the ballade “Miorita” sung by Nicolae Sulac. I listened and stood still. I saw valleys, hills and forests while listening,” he stated.
The last wife of Nicolae Sulac, Natalia Verban said that Valeriu Ciurea came to her and told her that he wanted to make a film about the nation, where Nicolae Sulac would be the main hero. The director sold his apartment in order to make this film. “Maybe there will be people who will want to do something for
Nicolae Sulac now,” said Natalia Verban.
Attending the launch of the festival, singer Anatol Latyshev said he was very glad that somebody did a nice thing for Nicolae Sulac. “For me, Nicolae Sulac was a teacher, a guide, a colleague with his own philosophy and songs. I’m glad that he is not forgotten,” said the singer.
Nicolae Sulac died on April 8, 2003 at the age of 67. He sang the joys and sorrows of the people in his ballads and songs. His most famous ballade is “Miorita”.
