First trolleybus assembled in Chisinau will start work on July 1
The first trolleybus that will be assembled at the Chisinau Electric Transport Company will be put into operation on July 1. The first bodies will arrive in Chisinau from Belarus next week. “A team of specialists returned from Minsk with qualification certificates and is ready to assemble trolleybuses in Chisinau. Two specialists from the Minks trolleybus plant will also help assemble the units of transport,” the head of the Electric Transport Company Gheorghe Morgoci said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
The main parts for the future trolleybuses will be bought from different Belarusian plants. The engines and electronic systems will be purchased from Russia. Before being put into operation, the trolleybuses will cover a distance of 500 km.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said that outwardly the trolleybus will seem ready, but different works will be yet done internally. “We do not want somebody to say that the assembly in Chisinau is a formal process. The trolleybuses will come to Chisinau with bodies, chassis and wheels, but without engine and electronic equipment. We agreed that the assembly works at the first stage will be divided. A larger part of the works will be performed in Minsk. Gradually, after we gain experience, we will start to produce our own trolleybuses in Chisinau,” he stated.
The mayor also said that the assembly of trolleybuses in Chisinau must become the most important project of the city following the larger number of traffic accident involving minibuses. The purchase of new trolleybuses will be an alternative. “”We must show to the residents of Chisinau that the high-capacity transport is given priority,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. The number of new trolleybuses in the capital city during the next two years is planned to be increased to 200.
