Over 10,000 people will pace on Chisinau’s streets on Sunday, September 16, during the unification march organized by the “Actiunea 2012” Civil Platform. The participants will wear big banners, 500 flags and will launch tricolor smoke-makers, reports Info-Prim Neo.
Constantin Codreanu, member of the civil platform, stated during a press conference that the agreement with the Chisinau City Hall, regarding the route of the march, has become official. Thus, the manifestation will begin in the Moldovan Academy of Sciences Square, at 2:00pm, moving towards Stefan cel Mare Boulevard, Ismail Street, Mateevici Street, Crihan Street, with the Summer Theater from the “Valea Morilor” park as the final destination.
“We’ve taken this step in order to prove, once again, that we are not violent. We are also open to dialogue and, in no way, want to instigate anyone to violence. It is not excluded that counter-protesters will instigate to violence, or even attack the unification marchers”, stated Codreanu. “Actiunea 2012” offered the journalists present at the press conference a protection helmet for each, to protect them from potential attacks.
“Today we obtained the fourth victory against socialists, who will be forced to pay the court expenses for us (500 lei; the group filed with a court to stop the march, en). And, as a result of the agreement reached with the City Hall, Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said that he will join Sunday’s march for unification”, said Constantin Codreanu.
According to the organizers, the Sunday manifestation will be attended by people of arts, politicians, writers, as well as members of about 30 NGOs and initiative groups from Romania, the USA and other European countries.
